Back in December 2012 I got brave and asked my pastor if I could paint during church services. I told him I would stay out of the way and paint in the back of the church, so I was not distracting to anyone. He gave me permission. So that is what I have been doing for the past few years, joining in worship in my own way, with the talents that the Lord has blessed me with. Most of the time, it takes me several sessions to complete a painting. Sometimes I paint all of it at church, and other times I complete it at home. I pray and ask the Lord what He would like me to paint and I go from there. There are so many ways to explore and connect with God. Music has been accepted as a form of worship for thousands of years and most places of worship are very happy with having musicians use their gifts as part of the service. In the past few years, more and more places of worship are realizing that there are so many more creative ways to express the wonder of God through various forms of the fine arts, or even other ways. Caroline Leaf, a noted neuroscientist said that if we follow our passion, it will lead us to God. It certainly has done that for me. I see the hand of God in everything around me. Painting has become a spiritual journey for me as I explore and create what he shows me. Here are some of the paintings that I have done at church. There are two paintings done at other locations. "Yeshua" was done at a conference, and "Mercy" was done as a guest artist at a Methodist church.
