Description
I splurged and bought some beautiful blue orchids that I saw in the store. I had never seen blue orchids before and thought they would look so beautiful in a painting, so I took the plunge and bought them. Even though they cost more than the regular orchids, I thought it was worth the extra cost. I used this orchid plant in some other colored pencil paintings as well. I even kept them alive for a few years. The following year, they bloomed with white flowers, so they were treated somehow to turn blue. I got a lot of enjoyment from their beauty though, so it was well worth it. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. The neat thing is that they won't turn white the following year, but, will give you many years of lasting enjoyment!
By the way, I couldn't think of what to call this painting, so I held a "name this painting" contest on Facebook and the winner named it BLISS.
I choose BLISS because I see the reds and yellow as negative energy but also see positive energy in the flow of the different blue and green hues. This piece has FAITH because even though there is negativity going on, they are happy and healthy and willing to fight the fight of Faith.
I looked up the meaning of bliss and it means perfect or extreme happiness to the point of ecstasy, especially the ecstasy of salvation, spiritual joy, or the state of ecstasy found in heaven. Some synonyms are: above, heaven, kingdom come, New Jerusalem, paradise, sky, and Zion.
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. Psalm 5:11
There can be no true happiness until we are at peace with God and our fellow man.
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. Psalm 37:37
The Hebrew word for peace (shalom) has a much deeper meaning which includes completeness, perfect health, and abundance to every area of life: physically, mentally, and spiritually. The world cries out for world peace, but it will only happen with the coming of the Prince of Peace or (Sar Shalom).
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
