Description
"Shalom" completed September 3, 2012 by Nancy Cupp, Colored Pencil drawing of the word "Shalom" with the Star of David, crown representing the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, an olive branch with olives, wings, and flower.
Prismacolor colored pencils on 100 lb. bristol smooth paper, 9 X 12 inches, 300 series Strathmore paper.
The word "shalom" means peace in Hebrew. It has a much deeper meaning than simply peace. It also means complete wholeness or perfect health to the spirit, soul, and body. It means no missing parts, everything working perfectly to complete the whole. Peace is also rest, meaning that everything is well with the soul, body, and spirit, so that one can rest in safety, knowing that everything is perfect and well, so one does not have to worry anymore about anything. All is well. The world has been seeking peace ever since the fall of Adam and Eve, when they were kicked out of the perfect garden. The world will be seeking a world leader than can stop all wars, bringing unity to the world, offering a utopian society. Instead this will make the world vulnerable to the anti-Christ, which will only enslave people. The world will never find true peace, until the true Prince of Peace comes in power, the Messiah, the King of Kings and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ, the true savior of mankind.
