I was asked to paint something similar to another painting that I did earlier called "Regeneration", but, the client needed it in a larger size. She wanted some purple in it, to go with her living room. It had to be a certain size that fit an ornate gold frame that she already had over her fireplace. She also wanted it to depict her faith and be a point of conversation for people visiting her.
I decided to make three different types of liquid pouring from the gold vase, which represents the Holy Spirit. The yellow represents the oil of the Holy Spirit. The purple liquid in the middle represents the wine (representing the blood of Jesus), and the water represents the water of His Word, and also baptism. They are intertwined, representing the trinity and a 3 fold cord that cannot be easily broken. Purple represents royalty and the kingship of Christ. The crown represents the crown of Jesus, as well as the crown we receive as followers of Jesus, the King of Kings. We will also lay down our crowns in worship to Him. Through seeking Him and humbling our lives before Him, we begin to take on His attributes and anointing that only comes from Him, to become that beautiful bride without spot or wrinkle. That is just a little idea of some of the spiritual symbolism in this painting. The vase has pomegranates and grapes on it, symbolic of some of the symbolic decorations found on items in the temple. I could go on and on, but, I hope that it touches your spirit and gives you a little glimpse of what is going on in the spiritual realm. I call it "Get Ready" because Jesus is coming back very soon, for a bride that has already made herself ready for His return. It is up to the bride to prepare ahead and be ready for the grooms return. According to Jewish tradition, once the bride, groom, and parents agree on the marriage, it becomes a legal binding contract and the groom goes back to his home to build the bride a home. When he is ready, he comes to get his bride, but, no one knows the day or hour when it will be ready, so the bride has to be prepared at a moments notice for his return. If he comes when she isn't ready, that is a big NO NO, like the foolish virgins who were not ready and missed the wedding. I don't want to miss the wedding, do you?
